Built around The Debby, a capsule we designed and tune entirely in house: a unique Ohma design for a sound you won’t get from any other mic. With this paint on top, no one else has a mic like yours.

The vault

What makes a vault mic different?

Each one was painted once, in our East LA paint shop, and won’t be made again. When it’s claimed, it’s gone. During the drop, every vault mic is $100 off, so most are $799 instead of $899.

Can I get it as a Condenser or a Ribbon?

Yes. Every vault mic can be built either way, at the same price. Pick its voice above and we build it the way you pick.

When will it ship?

The paint is already done. Pick Ribbon or Condenser and we build it, test it and ship it within a week, in time for the holidays.

Who pays VAT, duties and customs fees?

You do. International orders may be subject to local taxes, VAT, import duties and customs or brokerage fees, payable by the recipient. Your country sets these, not us, so we can’t tell you the exact amount ahead of time. FedEx usually collects them before or at delivery.

They aren’t included in your order total. Your local customs office can tell you what to expect.

Can I return a vault mic?

Vault mics are final sale, since each one is one of one. Our regular Ohma Ribbons and Condensers have 30-day returns.

The mic

Does it need phantom power?

Standard 48V phantom power, from an audio interface, a preamp or a field recorder. The Ohma Ribbon is an active ribbon, so phantom power is safe for it. Unlike vintage passive ribbons, it needs no special handling.

Condenser or Ribbon: which one is for me?

The Condenser is forward without being harsh, with a full low end and a built-in pad. The Ribbon has a smooth, classic top end and a thick, full low end. Hear them side by side in Listen above, or in the Ohma Listening Library.

Can I swap the screens?

Yes. The screens on the front and back are magnetic. Slide the included pick into the slot and lift the screen off; set a new one in place and the magnets pull it in. Each screen shapes the sound a little differently.
