Compare our microphones

The Ohma and the Ohmie are two very different microphone designs, both made in our East Los Angeles workshop. They share the same in-house assembly and testing, but the circuitry, sound, form factor and overall approach are intentionally different.

Ribbon and Condenser

Ohma

Built around character. Choose the original Debby condenser or the active ribbon, then shape the response further with interchangeable acoustic screens. It brings a sound, look and personality you're unlikely to already have.

How it's made
By hand, one at a time, in our East LA shop. We build our own capsules and ribbon assemblies, tune each one by hand, and finish every body in our own paint shop. Very few mic makers anywhere still work this way.
Assembled and tested on the same bench as every Ohma.
Mic type
Cardioid condenser or figure-8 active ribbon.
Cardioid condenser.
Capsule and circuit
Our own original designs: the Debby condenser capsule through a CineMag transformer, or an active ribbon through a Lehle transformer. Both transformers are a big part of the Ohma sound.
An edge-terminated capsule in a transformerless, low-noise, high-output circuit.
Sound control
Swappable acoustic screens physically change the frequency response, from more focused and controlled to more open and room-forward.
Dual Voltage switches the capsule between 48V and 80V for two different responses, with about 5 dB more output at 80V.
Sound character
Distinctive, characterful and dimensional. The Debby condenser and the ribbon each have their own voice, and the screens push it in different directions.
Detailed, clean, balanced and natural, flexible enough to move between a wide range of sources without imposing a strong character.
Customization
Make it entirely yours: any color, down to your own hex code, a Cerakote finish we apply in-house, swappable screens, your own logo and a pop filter painted to match. Ohma is the only mic you can build in your own hex code.
One signature Ohmie design.
Special orders
One-of-one builds made with you: all-brass and patina finishes, hydro-dipped bodies, custom logo screens and whatever else you can dream up.
The Ohmie comes one way, ready to record.
Form factor
A larger modular design built around the interchangeable screens.
Smaller and more compact, easy to move between studio, home, field and mobile setups.
Best fit
The centerpiece of your mic locker: a distinct voice and a look that is completely yours, built to be the mic people ask about.
One condenser that handles a lot of jobs: vocals, instruments, production, voiceover work, sampling, podcasting and field recording.

Hear them side by side

Same singer, same day, same signal chain. Every clip is level-matched with no EQ or compression, so what changes is the mic, not the volume.
