How Tacos Helped Us Find Our Dream Workshop

Four years ago, we had one simple goal: to build a single microphone. Not a grand plan, not a master business strategy—just one mic for ourselves to record at home. That was supposed to be it.

But… noooo, we had to go and make it a whole thing.

What started as a personal passion turned into countless hours of prototyping, testing, and refining. We wanted to create something that would bring as much joy to others as it did to us. And soon, our little Ohma mic project grew into a full-blown operation.

Our first workshop? It was our home. We made every mic by hand, surrounded by tools, wires, and mic parts in every corner. The work kept growing, and so did the clutter. Walking through the house became an obstacle course.

Rigby, our cat and self-appointed foreman, kept us on our toes (and occasionally on our backs, tripping over mic cables).

Eventually, it was clear: we had outgrown our home.

This summer, we made the leap and started searching for a real shop. After exploring potential locations, we found the perfect space—right down the street! It felt like destiny.

Why? Because not only was it the ideal spot for Ohma World to grow, but it also came with an amazing taco stand right across the street. When we walked out of the space for the first time, took one bite of those tacos, and looked at each other, we knew: this was the spot.

I mean, can you really build microphones without good tacos nearby? We think not.

We’re not just growing for the sake of it. This is about leveling up for our community. Whether you’ve been here since the start or are just tuning in, you’re the reason we’re able to take this step.
