This Is My World - All Made Up - Allee Futterer
What does it mean to truly follow your creative instincts? In the first episode of our new series, "This is My World", we step into the life and creative process of musician, producer, and touring bassist Allee Futterer, better known as All Made Up. When she’s not crafting her own music, Allee is taking the stage as a bass player for artists like Chappell Roan and Weyes Blood, bringing her creativity and energy to audiences everywhere.
Chaos, Creativity, and Breaking the Rules
Allee describes her creative process as "chaotic—kind of organized chaos." Inspiration doesn’t always come easily, but for Allee, walking away from a song often brings clarity: "If I can’t figure out what happens next, I just walk away. Eventually, it’ll hit me."
Her approach to making music is deeply intuitive. She sees every song as part of a cycle: "There’s a cycle to every creative process." For Allee, that means embracing imperfection rather than overcorrecting. "I’m starting to really enjoy the imperfections in things," she says. It’s not about following rules but about following your own North Star: "If everybody followed their North Star, you’d see more of that individualism."
Why Allee Loves Ohma Mics
Allee was immediately drawn to the ethos behind Ohma microphones : "When I first found out you guys were making microphones, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. There’s not a lot of individuals making things outside of the box."
She appreciates the flexibility and the aesthetic that Ohma mics bring to her creative space: "Even just the shape and aesthetic is so different than what a microphone should look like."
Her choice of a blue mic wasn’t just practical—it was deeply personal. "Most of my instruments are blue or pink, and I wanted to keep the theme up. My creative space is filled with little curio cabinet pieces of me that are like emotional support blankets."
