At first glance, some people might think that Ohma mics are a toy.
We get it. Bright colors. Magnetic parts. Custom logos. It looks more like a gadget from the future than a serious piece of pro audio gear.
But pop one open and see what’s inside.
What’s really inside will shock you. Especially if you’ve been around name-brand microphones. Because at Ohma, what we put into our mics isn’t just different—it’s engineered to a standard most mic companies won’t even attempt.
Built for Artists. By Artists.

At Ohma World, we make two types of microphones: a FET condenser and an active ribbon.
We’re musicians and engineers who’ve worked in legendary studios like EastWest and Electrical Audio—but also in bedrooms and closets and converted garages. We built mics we wanted to use in our own music. Mics that aren’t clones of the past. But are obsessed with what made the greats so good.
Sound First. Specs Second.
We listen first. Then we measure.
That’s how we designed Debby —our custom, original large diaphragm condenser capsule. It’s edge-terminated like a C12, but uses a single backplate like a U47. It delivers a smooth, rich low end, a sweet midrange, and a silky, non-hyped top that feels musical—not sterile.

We tension and tune every capsule in-house in East LA. We don’t buy mass-produced capsules like most companies. We make our own, because that’s the only way to control tone from the source.
Yeah, even that $3,000 mic you’ve been eyeing probably doesn’t have a capsule made by the company that sold it to you. Most brands buy from the same few suppliers—so when we say we make our own, we mean really make our own.
That’s also why every Ohma condenser includes a vintage NOS Cinemag transformer. You’ll literally find that in no other mic under $5000. Ours starts at $699.

A Ribbon Legacy, Reimagined

Our Ohma Ribbon mic isn’t just inspired by the greats—it shares the same DNA.
At the heart of our ribbon mic is a 2.35″ long, 1.8μm corrugated aluminum ribbon —the exact same size and spec as the legendary RCA 44. This is no coincidence. Much of our team spent years designing, building, and repairing ribbons at AEA Ribbon Mics, the company known for modernizing the RCA legacy.
We built the Ohma Ribbon by starting with what we love most about the RCA sound — then made it our own.
Through careful listening, real-world testing, and input from the artists and engineers we trust most, we shaped a ribbon mic that’s rooted in the past but built for how we create today. It combines the warmth and richness of old-school sound with the flexibility and ease of modern usability — something incredibly rare in today’s ribbon mic landscape.
We don’t just buy off-the-shelf parts either. Our ribbon material is custom-made for us in Italy, developed specifically for our performance specs. The electronics? Soldered right here in East Los Angeles.
It’s an active ribbon mic, meaning it plays nice with everything—whether you're plugging into a $99 Scarlett or a Neve console. It delivers big, smooth low-end, rich mids, and a sweet top end without the noise you might expect from traditional ribbons.
And it's built to last. Ohma ribbons have been on tour with Boygenius, Jane’s Addiction, Ginger Root, Julien Baker, Sunny Day Real Estate, and even Wynton Marsalis’s big band at the Lincoln Center, just to name a few. Since launching, we haven’t had a single ribbon repair.
Change the Look. Shape the Sound.

Our magnetic, swappable screens aren’t just for aesthetics. They actually change the sound of the microphone. Each one acts like a unique acoustic filter.
- Want something polished and vocal-ready? Go with Motif.
- Need mid-forward punch for guitar amps? Try Stripes.
- Want it dark and natural for rooms or strings? Windows is your friend.
- Looking for something all-around? Holes does it all.
- Need a bright pop vocal that sparkles? Scales will cut through any mix.
And yep—you can match them to your vibe, your content, your setup. Swap them in seconds with the included pick.
Customize Everything

Every mic is customizable—from color to screen style to logo.
Want your studio’s logo on the mic? We'll laser-cut it in stainless steel and magnetically mount it. Need a patina’d brass finish to match your vibe? We’ve done it.
We even paint every mic ourselves using Cerakote, a premium ceramic coating used on aerospace gear and barbells. It's tough. It's beautiful. It’s unique.

Not Just Built Different—Designed to Be Different.

At Ohma, we’re not trying to be the next Neumann or RCA. We're not here to clone the past.
We're here to offer something new. Something that can sit proudly next to your $15k U47 and do its own thing.
Something that looks like you, sounds like you, and evolves with you.
We’re one of only a handful of companies in the world that make our own capsules and ribbons. And as far as we know, we’re the only ones in the U.S. making an original edge-terminated capsule that isn’t a vintage clone.
Ohma is the mic that proves beauty and brains can co-exist.

It’s not just another pretty face. It’s a precision-tuned, artist-driven, road-ready piece of engineering.
So yeah, you might think it’s a toy at first. But see what’s inside.
You’ll never look at microphones the same way again.
